A warm welcome in chilly Chicago at SES

Filed under: search engine marketing,SEM SEO Training — David Temple @ 4:07 pm

I haven’t had this much fun since, well I don’t remember when. Sorry seoloser you just didn’t meet the right people. Guess you’re also the seo unlucky guy too. Here’s a few people I finally met in person in no particular order. Kim Krause Berg and her husband Eric. She rules! I am Kim’s biggest fan. She set me on a path of “no return” with her generous spirit. She’s a sweetheart, as you’ll see, a theme develops. The one and only Rand Fishkin – gotta be one of the nicest, down to earth people I’ve ever met. His joyfulness spills over. The effervescent and globe trotting Rebecca Kelley – my favorite blogger of all time, yes that includes Rand. I want to read everything she writes and she’s so darn cute. (I know she probably doesn’t like that girlie description ). Todd Malicoat -been reading Stuntdubl for awhile, always informative. Great sense of humor but watch out Rand. Justilien Gaspard – gotta love that name. He always wore a big smile. Excellent job on his first panel about linking.

Li Evans – Can you spell fun? She rocks and her hatbait was a big hit with all. Lisa Barone – comes in a close second for getting my blogger love and another cutie, who doesn’t mind being called a girl. Sweet, modest and just all around nice. How’s this for a voice Lisa? Elisabeth Osmeloski – I love you! She told me to say that but really there was something about her that made me fall for her right away. Elisabeth, you had me at hello. David Naylor – All around funny guy. I don’t see the color of peoples’ hats, I just see the person. Jim Hedger – this is a really passionate guy as he loves what he does best, writing. Jake Baille– put on a fantastic and well attended party at Blues, thanks!

Jarrod Hunt and Troy Ireland – fun and happy guys, always smiling who treated myself and about 15 others to a great dinner. Andy Beal who put on the interesting SEM Scholarship contest that allowed me to meet many people online and of course the overall winner Ben Wills with his article on SMO. Ken Jurina who also treated me and about 13 others at a Chinese restaurant. Hmmm who’s idea do you think it was to go to a Chinese restaurant? David Wallace & Irma Wallace – These two are in love and they share it with all. I really enjoyed their company. Neil Patel – Here’s trouble waiting to happen. I think a bit of mischeviousness waiting to get out but a friendly guy. Yes Neil I do have a link to your blog, do you have a link to mine? Cameron Olthuis – Just a blast! Cameron likes Dicks but not me., at least not the food. Didn’t hang out with him and Neil enough.

Loren Baker – been reading Loren for a long time and he said he appreciated my comments. He tore up the dance floor at Blues. Andrea Shoemaker – A sweetheart that I took to right away. She shared a lot with me but I’ll never tell. Jeremy Schoemaker – A fun guy, down to earth but didn’t spend much time with him. And last but certainly not least, Rob Kerry, aka evilgreenmonkey. I assure you there is not an evil bone anywhere in this guy. Quiet, unassuming and great sense of humor.

I could go on and on since I met so many incredible people but will stop for brevity sake. And whoever I’ve left out, please forgive me. Everyone was really nice.

  2. Thanks, if you don’t have anything nice to say…etc. I’m honored you found my blog and even took time to comment. While I’m at it I love your book and have commented about it where I can. Love to have you and Jennifer sign it and look forward to meeting you one day and then I can write how wonderful you are.;)

  8. I’ll never forget our first meeting, when you burst into Kelly O’Shea’s, realized who that woman was tucked comfortably in the corner at the first table (I was having a blast watching all the SEO/M’s coming in after checking into the hotel) and you yelled something and then “I LOVE you!” It was hilarious. You were the rare one I admitted the knee pain stuff to, when you got me breakfast and carried my heavy computer bag the next morning. I never forget a kindness and a gentleman. There was a lot going on in my head, esp. fear about the pain I was in, and you helped me relax when I needed to build up some inner confidence. You were a truer friend than you knew. I’m thrilled you got to meet so many of the good SEO/M people. The industry is packed with beautiful people, and you’re one of them.

  9. I don’t even know how to respond other than thanks. However it was you that did everything for me and not the other way around. I shall never forget.

  12. Thanks for the kind words David, although you may have ruined my bad boy reputation 😉

I hope that you’re able to come over to London for SES in February so that we can have a few beers. If not, fingers crossed that my boss sends me over to NY. Would love to go to China, although I don’t think they’ll like the company which I work for 😀

  13. Rob I really enjoyed hanging with you dude, but you are really evil ;). Sorry love to go to London and New York but all my focus is on China. You can manage my drinking chores in NY okay? Wish you could join us but don’t why you they wouldn’t like your company.

  16. Well, OK! This looks great, Gary!

I am very new to blogs, having used them just a couple of times with students who were already accustomed to writing in them.

But I am excited at the possibility that this medium could help us share lessons, ideas, and materials after MyGateway goes down.

    Let’s hear from others.
